I spent so much time over the weekend researching the two family trees that I am working on that I developed a tingling sensation in the tips of my left little finger and my left ring finger.

Cousins
Many years ago when I first started my research I was startled by some information that another geneaologist gave me. She informed my that my husband's father was my sixth cousin and my husband was my sixth cousin once removed.
Well I researched it and she was 100% right.
Back from the past and I was working on my current husband's family tree. The name Judge J. W. kept popping up. I was doing my research on ancestry dot com and so I downloaded the family tree to a gedcom file and put it into my Brother's Keeper software as a separate tree. Then I checked the individual to see if the same thing had happened. Yes it had. My MIL and FIL are cousins eight times removed. I don't dare tell he this. She is in her 90's and I do not think she would take it well.
They say that everyone descended from European stock is related somewhere in the last 50 generations. Sometimes it is much sooner than that.

Progress
Since the passing of my SIL I have spent many hours at my computer at home working on the genealogy of all the ancestors of my GS (grandson) and working on all the ancestors of my DH. I have found so much and moved that dates of my research so far back. Now I am working on ancestors that were born in the 1000's. There is so much out there to review, analyse and prove.

Loss of son-in-law
Who would ever think that doing genealogy research would help me with the loss of my SIL?
John passed away on June 25 of congestive heart failure. We are in grief and shock. He was only 46. I miss him so much.
My way of dealing with this devastating loss was to bury myself in a book, lock on to the television program or sit at my computer doing research. In order to make this really accurate I took out a membership in Ancestor dot Com. What a resource.
Please pray for the family and friends of John.

Update
I found a lot of research that hasn't been filed. DH says he would like to take this up as a hobby. That is the best news I have had in 16 years.
In the next few weeks we will sign up with one of the larger genealogy online sites and start working to trace his family back and also see if I can find additional information about my ancestors.
